Drunk Driving Accidents
Drunk drivers pose a serious threat to innocent drivers on the road. Their driving behavior can result in devastating injuries to drivers, passengers, and bystanders. Attorney Kevin J. Dolley’s success and experience has allowed victims of drunk driving accidents to seek from insurance companies the highest settlements possible.
There are two statutory offenses relating to alcohol and driving that apply in all 50 states. The first is driving while intoxicated (DWI), driving under the influence (DUI), or operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated (OWI). The second is “illegal per se,” or a Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) of 0.08 g/dL or higher. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) considers an alcohol-related crash as one involving at least one person involved in the crash, including non-occupants of the car, has a BAC of 0.01 g/dL or higher. An alcohol-impaired crash, on the other hand, involves a driver who has a BAC of 0.08 or greater. In 2009, the latter accounted for about one third of all fatal car crashes nationally and in Missouri.
